Laboratory Metering
Rods
 Applies
a highly uniform wet film coating.
16" long by 1/4" or 1/2" diameter 303 SS rod; 12" of
precision wound 304 SS wire with 2" hand grips each end.

These lab rods can be used either to test two
coatings simultaneously, or for full width substrate evaluations
using one test liquid. Economical and easy to use; simple cleanup
with water, alcohol, appropriate solvent, and low-lint cloths.
With the use of such non-abrasive cleaners, metering rods can be
repeatedly reused for a long time span. For best performance, metering
rods should be used on a surface such as the Diversified Drawdown
Platform. Other wire sizes available by special order.

= 1,000 microns. Thickness varies somewhat, notably for
high viscosity liquids and small wire rods. (2) Lbs/ft2 assumes
10 lb/gal; g/m2 assumes 1 g/cm3;
use the following formulas for other densities — wt/gal
= 8.312 x specific gravity (density); lbs/1,000 ft2 =
0.1 x wt/gal x table value; g/m2 = specific
gravity x table value.

(1) Approximate wet film thickness as applied; dry
film thickness will be less, depending on percent solids.
(2) #0 rods have no wire; thickness varies, depending
on coating viscosity, application pressure, etc.
(3) This rod is formed to produce a wet film thickness
of 0.15 mils. Available only in half inch size.
(4) These rods are double-wound to produce the wet
film thicknesses shown.
